Open Design Ecology [12/11/2013]
Copyleft

Copyleft is the attitude that software should be free and open source.
Copyright

Copyright is the protection of someones creation or intellectual property meaning that it belongs to them and you have to credit them for the right to have it or use it.
Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons is a open source database where anyone can add any media files to and anyone can use them. There is no copyright infringement. It is a project built by The Wikipedia Foundation.
Open Source Software

Open source software is free for anyone to use in the world. You can edit it, change it, use parts of it or take little elements and make them your own.

Open source software typically has its licensed sibling, for instance, Gimp is open source software's answer to Adobe Photoshop. Most of the tools do the same thing and it has the same layout and workings of Photoshop just with out the price-tag.
To get more of a grasp on the subject on open design ecology I looked further into it and found these videos which I found useful in explaining further into depth what I already knew.

I personally look at TED lectures a lot when doing research because the majority of the lectures are done by people in the field who have first hand experience or knowledge on the subject, which I personally think gives them this passion when they're talking which I engage really well in.
